Recipe to Finding Love Online

Online dating? Seriously?

Yes, seriously. It’s what we all resort to when we’re feeling lonely, heart-broken, or just bored, but with the stigma around online dating, it’s understandable that it’s a little embarrassing to tell your friends about. I’ve had my go with online dating and here’s what I’ve learned: if you take it seriously and know exactly what you’re looking for in a relationship, it’s just a matter of time before you find your new bae.

Don’t believe me? Just hear me out.

I think it’s safe to say that besides apps like eHarmony and Christian Mingle, there are the trendier dating apps that your friends have recommended you like: Tinder, Happn and Bumble. But before we get into that, it’s essential for you to first map out what you want In a relationship and if you’re ready for one! Whether it’s because you’re tired of waiting for the perfect guy at your local Starbucks, or because you want a insta-hubby – no judgement, girl- make those boundaries and expectations clear for yourself. It’s been a struggle, I know- and now that it’s February, it’s just about to get lit in the dating app-world, but just remember that it’s not a race against time to find a s/o!

As soon as any red flags appear in the chatroom, unmatch that ‘match’ real-quick! It’s no bother giving someone the benefit of the doubt when they’re already raising questions and behaviours online. Always follow your gut and if there is a spark, go for the date!

Love isn’t something that comes just like that, though. So I can’t really give you the end-all-be-all recipe for finding love online. Just remember that because an app worked for someone, doesn’t always mean you’ll have the same boy-meets-girl experience as your friend did. So take everything with a grain of salt, but also get out there and have fun with it! As cliché as it sounds, it might take weeks or months or years to find “love” because everyone has different definitions of it, but it WILL come! Good luck!!
